For Mr Pearson.

His gravel very evident & the pain of his right side is owing
to it, being in the kidney & ureter. The pain of his right
haunch
shooting down his leg is Gouty & it might be dangeĀ¬
rous to treat it as rheumatic, either by bleeding, blistering or
embrocations. To remove entirely either gout or gravel I do
not undertake, but to relieve both.

Put him upon the use of the Caustic Lixivium for a
month together. I can advise nothing farther at present:
except a proper regimen.

Moderation & temperance. Exercise on horseback or in a
Carriage as the weather or his ailments allow. If on
horseback it must be at a slow pace on a very smooth going
horse. In Diet avoid all acid or ascent. Moderation in
animal food & only once a day. Milk once a day either for
breakfast or supper, if he digest it. No fermented liquor.

He may take very moderately of Toddy made of any Spirits
he likes, but I should prefer good Dutch or Cologne Gin.
