Mrs Margaret Logie - Zetland


Her constitution very unsound- an imposthume inwardly.-
and more than one part of her bowels probably affected. -


Let her live entirely upon milk and grain- Such as well
leavened wheat bread. Barley Rice or Sagœ - The Milk should be
well diluted with thin water gruel and well sweatened with
Sugar.- Let her take frequently of an Absorbent Powder

. such as Crabs Eyes, prepared Oister Shells, or prepa¬
red Chalk
.- or if to the quantity of half a dram - Or
if Costiveness requires it let her take Magnesia Alba
to the same quantity or more. ---


Let her be carried out if she can bear it into the
fresh air frequently, either on horseback, or in any
Carriage conveniently to be had.


I have prescribed below some Drops and an Infusion
in a small Dose at first, but if her Stomach be found
to bear them
, the Dose of the Drops and the Strength of
theInfusion may be increased---

Take two ounces of Tincture of Mars. Label: Strengthening Drops. Ten to be taken in an ordinary wine glass full of water twice a day, washing down each Dose with two table Spoonfuls of the following Infusion.

Take half an ounce of Peruvian Bark, one ounce of Cinnamon and one pound of Spring water. Soak for twelve hours, then add two ounces of Tincture of Peruvian bark and strain. Label: Strengthening Drops. Two table Spoonfuls to be taken after every Dose of the Drops.


N.B. If the above be found too strong let four Ounces
of the Infusion be used by way of Clyster at bedtime
