Mr Wightman Concerning Mrs Grieve.

I think the Case can admit no more blooding as you have reason to apprehend
a serous Effusion & I am much afraid that it is made already in the thorax &
hardly anything else can explain the peculiar state of Symptoms you take
notice of. Your continuing to Blister can do no harm & the Opiate you will
still find necessary. The Tussilago Juice may also be continued that we may not
appear to fluctuate too much but in the present view of things I expect nothing
from it – The only medicine that I can advise is the Electuary below
which I expect may prove Diuretic as well as Laxative and both the use
of the Opiate and your view of the Case render thse purposes proper. ––

Take an ounce of Tartar Crystals, a drachm each of Regenerated Tartar and Composite Jalap Powder, ½ an ounce of Lenitive Electuary, and enough Simple Syrup to make a thin Electuary or Linctus. Label: S. Laxative Electuary. a tea spoonfull twice a day
