Mr Addison of Boness.


The pain of the breast he has of late complaiĀ¬
ned of seems purely muscular & rheumatic and
your applications have therefore been very proper
which I should doubt if I thought the pains had
been gouty. They seem to be going off but if
they do not immediately I would advise you to
put a blister upon the part
. For the flying
pains in his hand or elsewhere, I can advise
nothing but the general regimen I gave before
with the use at times of the Volatile Elixir of Guaiacum. At this season more or less of gout is to
be expected
& so long as it keeps to the extremities or

external parts, it must have its course. In a
postscript to your letter Mr Addison desires me to
