Miss F. Robinson aged 28: of a spare & very
irritable Habit & pallid Complexion; about 14 Years
since had a long continued fever, which left her
in a very debilitated and enervated State. For near
two Years, on her recovering more strength & being
able to remove from home, made use of Sea
Bathing with reluctance; two or three times
having great terror from the effect, as well as
the Sensation it occasioned; when she disisted.
An obtuse dull pain seized part of the Maxilla inferior
which in some short space of time left her; &
has continued to be tolerably well for the space
or six seven or nine Months together, when she
then had a return for a few Days, but not confined
to the same part, sometimes in the upper Maxilla
&cc.- She has continued in this State until
March last, when she had the teeth sealed by
a Dentist, having a Quantity of stoney Crustations
adhering to them, & from the friction of Powders
&

of Blood; since which time has never been free from an
oppressive ↑pain↑ (not a darting lancinating one) as she
expresses it, in various parts of the upper or lower {illeg}
Maxilla attended with great Dejection of Spirits & {illeg}
tremors universal, frequently complains of a Spasmo{illeg}
Contriction in upper part of the Gums & that the
nose
appears pinched; she has been
somewhat better since the severe Frost has abated
I have observed that her Complaints have been
encreased, when any Occureances have happen'd
to disappoint her wishes. She is of Gouty Extraction
her father from an early period of life was severely
afflicted with it
& when free from it in the latter
part of his time had very violent scorbutic
Eruptions
all over his face & arms these Complaints
regularly succeeded each other, the Eruptions
in the warm Months, & Gout in Autumn & Winter
her Brother at the age of twenty 21 - had a severe

attack- & has these 17 Years had frequent returns
or when free from it- is oft complains of Flatulence
& gripings in the Bowels with acrid lax Evacuations
she has another Sister about fifty who has had frequent
painfull Complaints in the Intestines - & sometimes
painfull Swellings in her feet ----

Miss F: is regular as to the Catamenia but sparingly so,
nothing particular as to the other Excretions or to the
pulse
, appetite moderate as usual---
Has taken Dovers Powder when most severely afflicted
& other preperations of Opium with Camphorated Valerian without
temporary relief (as she says) but am inclined
to beleive she was benifited by them) a Malt
Infusion with seville orange twice Hoff: Anod. {illeg}
Sal Sedative Hombergii Decoction Lignorum with Antimony but has
never persever'd many Days in the Use of any -
with various Gargles - such as Vitriolic Acid- [Borax?]
Vinegar & Alkali- in a state of Effervence-
Laudanum to the Gums, Blisters behind the Ears, in
short every thing but a Ptyalism. The Gums are
not spungy - in several parts they have a very
pallid Hue
, The Bark has been tried but either
disregarded or encreased the Constriction, about
six Weeks since was blooded but, nothing
particular in its texture or appearance
