Dear Sir


I Received your Letter
last post - the Contents of which - gave
bothe the Doctor & me the greatest Satis¬
faction –– he was happy to observe
that you had the same opinion of
his Complaint that he had himself ––
the Inflammation I mentioned in my
last
- came round his back - & down
his right thigh
& fixed in a spot no
larger then a sixpence on the point of
his knee
where it Inflamed to ↑a↑ great

degree
but the Violence of it & all the other
Symptons that preceded this goute are
thank God greatly abated –– After I wrote
you last the swelling notwithstanding the
Inflammation Continued to increase
to such
a degree that the Physicians that attended
him Dr Bridges of this place & Dr
Samson of Bevierly thought it Necessary
to make some punctres to carry off the
water
–– it is surprising how much water
has been discharged
from these parts not
less the two quarts the swelling is allmost
entirely reduced
excepting about the feet
& as the punctres are keeped open it is
to be hoped it will soon be quite removed
Doctor Samson was so obliging as to write
you his opinion of the Drs Case but he
would not allow it to be goute so must have
given a wrong representation Doctr Bridges
agreed with my Husband in thinking it

goute from the beginning altho the maner
of its approach was so uncommon and
alarming – the Doctor will write you
himself as soon as he is able but in
the mean time would be happy to have
your advice with regard to the management
of himself after the water is fully discharged
to prevent any thing of that kind
Accumulating again – he is at present
very weak tho recovering as fast as
Could be expected from the bad way he
has been in –– the Dr & I are realy
ashamed to give you so much trouble your
time is so valuable but hopes you will be
so good as Excuse it & favour us with
an answer - now that my heart is a
little at ease with regard to the Dr.
I would fain put in a word for myself
the weakness of my leg is the same as
when I left you tho from habit I move
about on my stick
with greater ease then
I did at that time –– my other old
Complaint is still troublesom there is

a little remaining hardness & the spot
when I think it is almost whole Inflames
a little
& breaks oute again but I can
Sit quite easy now on any Sit which I
could not do for twelve months after I came
here –– I would be much obliged to
you if you could think of any thing
that would Cure it altogether – & help
to strenthen
my Leg –– the weakness is
mostly in
the Ancle –––– since I wrote
the above Doctor Samson has been here
& desires me to Inform you that
the swellings are all much abeated
since he wrote you –– Doctor Wilson
begs his respectfull Complement
to you please accept of the same
