Sir

The bearer Mr. Brougham about three
years ago happen'd to get a fall, & hurt his
Side
, by falling upon a stone; for a month it
gave him much pain, & after that he had a com¬
plaint about his Breast, which gave him great pain
by times; he consulted several Physicians, but
took no notice to them about his fall, supposing
the effects from it to be over, & that his disorder
proceeded from an indigestion, & they treated
him accordingly; no method they put him under
gave him any relief; he applied to me, & as I
was perswaded his complaint proceeded from
the fall, I made a Seton in his side, & kept him
open with Guaiacum, but he still has a return
of the pain as violent as ever. Mr. Gallon who
applied to you a few weeks ago about a Scorbutic
eruption in his Groin, attended with a violent
itching
; You ordered a Julep with Tartar Emetic
& a decoction of the Woods, he has continued the

method for above a fortnight, he finds himself much better,
& would be glad to know whether he should continue the method
any longer; as the Tartar Emetic agreed with ↑him↑ I doubled the
dose: He intends taking a Journey this Summer, & if you
think Harrowgate water would be of use, he would stay there a
few weeks. I am with much respect

Sir your most obedient Servant
