Dear Doctor

I have just now come
here again to visit Mrs Stevenson at
[Torcreak?]. Her pulse don't exceed at present
86
there's no great heat unnatural upon
her, the Aphtha is rather on the increase
the Disspiritedness still continues from
all which wou'd beg the favour of you
again to visit her to morrow, I wou'd be
glad in you wou'd write me & Morning
Coach at what hour you'll be there
that if possible I might meet you

I am Dear Doctor
you Most Humble
Servant
Ebenezer Clarkson

[Torcreak?] April 14th:
1779

P:S: All her friends here are desirous
to see you here E: C:

[Page 2]

Todays letter little new -- but shall
say what further occurs.

Aptha increasing a bad sign, at the same time
the moderate State of pulse indicates no
mischief suddenly. --- You may lay aside the
Ipecacuanha but the Anodyne must be continued & the dose
lessened. I wrote yesterday of the Gargle to be used
it should be Astringent & not very Acid
& no pains taken to make the Aptha fall [off]
unless they are very thick - but if thin &
the intestines much inflamed let her take frequently a tea
Spoonfull or two of the following Linctus -

Smooth Gelatinous Aliments

Take an ounce of Gum Arabic, three drachms of lump sugar, three ounces of boiling water. Dissolve and strain; label.
