Dear Sir
Paisley February 2d 1779


I am sorry to hear from Mrs.
Mclaws who is with my Daughter that
what you feared, has happened for
2 or 3 weeks after, She went to Mussell¬
brugh every thing continued to look
well but for some weeks past She
has had a stiffness in her neck &
head aiks at times, which She has
been subject to these two last winters
& her Cheeck swelled a good deall
betwixt the two sores now Mrs Mclaws
writes it has broke at the lower
Sore
& running a good deall. Pray
has that ointment you spoke of provd
effectuall, it it has I beg you woud
procure some of it for her or if
you think any alteration in her
bathing or otherways shoud be made
write her or if you have no prospect
of being in that Countrey soon & woud
wish to see her write Mrs Mclaws
& they will come to Town to you
their Lodgeing proved Smokey so they
are now at Mr. Jas. Vitche's Newbiggen
I intend seeing you in the Spring & am
