Sir

Having had the Honor of attending your Lectures is all the Apology
I make in troubling you with this

I'm desird to Inoculate a young Child of about 4 Months old
for the Small Pox. The Lady has had the Disease herself and is a very
healthy Woman, & give suck to the Child. I shou'd be glad to be inform'd
if you think it's necessary for the Lady to take any kind of Mercurial
Preparation
, or only to observe a strict Regimen &. as if she was to
receive the infection herself – or is it necessary for the Child to
take any medicine previous to Inoculation; & what kind do you think
most eligible – Your answer to this request will be esteem'd the
greatest favor, as the Family are great benefactors to me. I shou'd be very
unhappy if any misfortune shou'd happen to the Child

wishing you long enjoyment of Health
I remain your most obedient
& much oblig'd humble servant
