I was favourd with yours of the 8d current
respecting Mr Henderson. In my last I informed yow ↑of the sysptoms then complain'd of↑ that I had applyd
a Blister over the os sacrum, and Given ane Injection of Mustard. By the
last a Great dale of hardend accumulate facis were carryed of, and next
day urine pretty freely passed, without any other assistance


The Blister discharged amore then ordinary quantity so as to weett Evry
thing about him and to give yow his own Expression he Belived [Unguents?]
However next day the supression of urine came on again and upon
repeating the Mustarde Injection, the Urine came away with such
rapidity that he said it was like to spring over his head


He was now advised to take his laxative pills, and alltho three times the
quantity that used to have the Effect was taken, they had no Effect. The
suppression of Urine and costiveness returned, the Injection was again tryd
to no Effect,and then the catheter which that night could not pass the
sphincter Mussle, A fomentation of Wormwood &c was continued for some
time and all the Lower region of his Belly which was hard, swelled,
and violently paind was anointed over with Camphorated Volatile oil
and after some hours the catheter again tryed which passed Eassiely
and the urine taken off, Your letter then received a dose of the powdered Jalappa compound was Given and a Saline Injection which had a very

Good Effect and he has been pretty Easier these two days past only
still complaining of a soreness and straitness over the under Region of
his Belly
His right Limb very feeble, But raither ↑in↑ the left limb more sen¬
sation


Upon Giveing up the Elixir [Guajue?] volatile, and substituting the vitrioli
acide sperit
his sweating is much abated, and he dos not complain of weak
ness
feverishness near so much. looks as well, and is now as chearfull
as can be Expected after so severe a shock. So matters are pretty favourable
just now


The Electtricity is continued Evry day haveing gott a Machine into the
house for that purpos, which gives a considerable shock and Makes his
limbs start Evry shock - and Evry day that its possible to look out
he takes Excercise in a cheise unless upon the days he was so very Bad
that he could not bear it, The weather has been such as made the
Electricity not so powerful and sometimes hinderd his going out, when
he intended it


The Mustard, Powder of the Bark Valerian and cinnamon has
been constantly continued, and to such a degree that he passes the seed
much the same way he takes it in- The powdered Jalappa compound will be
Given as need requires, And as I feared the Reed porte wine Might
have some Effect upon his costiveness, I have directed him to drink some
spirits, and watter particularly recomended Hollands Gine and for a
chainge strong Beer brought down wth watter for fear of costiveness
