Att the desire of Mr William Henderson I
Give you the trouble of this, to acquaint you that for these fower¬
teen days past he has very pointedly taken the medecines you perscribed
and closely observed your directions with respect to Diet Excercise &: C.
But in Evry respect the symptoms and his complaints continue much
the same. –– However more particularly I think the Sphincture –
Mussles
of the Anus and Vesica Urinæ seem not to be in sich a paralytic
↑state↑
as well as the Gutts in Generall as they were in upon his comeing over
here; As when he had occasion for any discharge these ways, if not
attended to Instantly, he had no power of Retention. But now somewhat
Better both by Stooll and urine, alltho' allways after Eating there follows
a dullness and Heaviness yett a smaller dose of the Laxative pills has
their proper Effect


You will please observe likewise he has a constant propensity to sweating ––
his pulse but feeble, small and somewhat frequent, which makes me think
raither a little more wine might be allowed if you thought proper, But I
cannot doubt that sweating to be the Effect of the Diaphoretic Julep
please turn

which I found formerly when brought on by a Guaijac Bolus did
him no service –––– The seton in his Back seems to discharge Ex¬
ceeding well
in which he has not the smallest pain, and the feebleness
in
his right as well as the Insencibility of the left limb continue much
the same, He takes constant Excercise Either in a Chease or horseback
Eates with realish Enough and sleeps pretty well. Shall I hope
your Goodness will forgive these Imperfect hints and if in any
ways I can be serviceable your commands will be obyd By
