For Mrs Hamilton
[Start of margin text]1.[End of margin text] Let her begin immediately to take
Pills made of the dryed Leaves of
Hemlock & continue them for
two or three months - she may
begin with one grain for a Dose
& gradually increase it to what
she can bear that is till she
find it affects her with sickness
giddiness or a [?]
When these symptoms are felt
in any degree the Dose is sufficient
& such Dose is to be continued for
eight Days tho these symptoms
shoulfentirely go of. But as
commonly they do so after some
days so after Eight Days from
the last add her another
may commonly be made.

end of her month let her begin to
take every night at bedtime two
spoonfulls of the Tincture ordered below.
If this keeps her belly regular it is
enough, but if it does not she may
take another two spoonfulls an hour or
two before Dinner -
[Start of margin text]3.[End of margin text] When any symptoms of alteration
come on or symptoms that shew it
may be expected let her take twenty
drops of Laudaunum at bedtime
and continue this for a day↑night↑ or two
after the alteration happens.
Till the alteration happens the Tincture
may be taken with the Laudaunum
but when it has happened the Tincture
may be laid aside.

health than riding much on horseback
or going in a machine, 1 she should
endeavour to be in motion as often
as the weather allows. Moderate
walking she may practice but
there is great hazard in any fatigue

Choice in her Diet only in [general?]
the more light & cool it is the better
& a full Diet or even a heavy
meal will hurt her.

against but particularly in her
feet & legs.
[Start of margin text]7.[End of margin text] Attention must be given to keep
the belly very regular & if the
Tincture answers a dose of it might
be occasionally taken, but if its Effects
this way are not certain another
medecine must be employed.
Take half an ounce of crushed Peruvian bark, a drachm apiece of crushed white cinnamon bark and rhubarb root, one pint of white Spanish wine. Mix for three days and then strain. Add a drachm and a half apiece of Peruvian bark tincture and Sacred Elixir. Label: The Aperient Tincture two spoonfulls for a dose once or twice a day. W.C.
