Labours under a complication of ailments. In
the early part of life she enjoyed very good health, tho she
even then shewed some disposition to obesity: at present
is so corpulent as to be easily oppressed and fatigued by the
slightest exercise. About 20 years ago when pregnant slight¬
ly perceived some of those symptoms, which have since been
much aggravated and multiplied. At present she is scarcely
ever free from complaints, the more urgent return however
at intervals of different durations in form of paroxysms; in
these the mind is remarkably dejected, despondent and apt
to convert trivial circumstances into insurmountable diffi¬
culties
; but sometimes she shews signs of spasmodic
affections
, which presently alternate with deep sighs, wailing
and tears
: These generally last from 4 to 7 days, after which
she enjoys tolerable health for several weeks. Of late her phy¬
sician has suspected an enlargement of the liver and Spleen-
probably deceived by the effects of obesity. For several years past
has also been liable to asthmatic Paroxysms, which are
frequently excited by Any unusual affection of the mind or

other circumstance occasioning rapid respiration; according¬
ly the paroxysms are sometimes renewed by the coming on
of the others above mentioned, and last often by a series
of fits from two or three weeks. Add to ull these that for two
years past she has been subject to Fluor Albus and Men¬
orrhagia ---
She still notwithstanding these varied ailments
continues very Corpulent - Her appetite is much dimin¬
ished
and pulse usually slow - Many medicines have been
administered with only a temporary relief-
