Advice for Mr McCulloch.

The few following Directions are proposed
as the most likely to give relief

1. Begin with emptying the Bowels by taking
the Dose of Purgative Tincture A.

The Day following, enter on the course
of nervous Pills B, of which Three Doses
are to be taken every Day, to wit in the
Morning early, at midday & Bedtime,
begining with one Pill and gradually
increasing to five for each Dose, unless
a smaller Dose shall be found to occasion
some degree of Sickness at Stomach.

3. Alongst with each Dose of the Pills, take
Twenty Drops of the Tincture C, in a
wine Glass full of Cold Water.

4. Any Day in which the Patient shall not have
had Passage in the Belly, let him, at Bedtime,
take alongst with the Pills B, Two or
Three of the Laxative Pills D.

[Page 2]

5. It will be of great benefit to Cut out the
Hair & to wear a Wig, that a Blister Issue,
Three Inches in Diameter, may be kept
constantly running on the Crown of the Head:
and every Morning, before dressing the
Issue, a bottle of cold water should be poured
on the Head.

6. In such Cases, Flannel wore next the skin has
greater effect than perhaps the Patient may
readily imagine.

7. The Diet should consist of the following articles
Wheaten bread, Biscuit, Rice, milk, soft Eggs,
light Pudding, Broth, Fowl & the lighter
kinds of butcher meat plain drest, Roasted
or boiled. –– Flesh is to be eat at
Dinner only & even then sparingly.

8. Water with Toast & a Glass of Port Wine
after it will make the best Drink at Meals.

9. When Symptoms of an approaching Fit are
observed let the Patient take the vomit E
and after it at Bedtime the Dose of Quieting
Pills G.
