Dear Sir

Since I wrote you last I have your
favour of the 8th. ultimoo, according to your orders I had the Seton
put in
my neck, & it discharges very freely, about three weeks (↑ten days ago↑) I had
an attack of my disorder about 8 oClock in the morning, after which
I was very sick at my stomach & much inclined to vomit. At night
I had another attack, rather severer than the first, after which I
vomited a good deal
. Since that time, till this morning, I have been
pretty well, when I had another attack, I really do not think that
my complaint is in the least lessened. For about a month past I have
not been much troubled with them disorders in my head during
the intermediate time between the attacks. I have observed that
when I am not troubled with them complaints that the attacks are
frequenter than when I am. I use the cold bath constantly every
morning & adhere to the regimen as usual, but I think ↑it↑ does not
seem as if it wou’d have the desired effect as the disorder is very
obstinate. It is a mystery to me what cou’d have been the cause of
it, as there is none of the family that ever had such a thing, and
during my residence in the West Indies, no Person cou’d enjoy better
health than I did, till about two months before my departure, & no
Person cou’d have lived more temperate than I did in every particu¬
lar, so that what to impute it to I cannot say, indeed I attended
rather too closely ↑to business↑ & I did not think I had so free a perspiration
as was necessary
in so hot a climate. – I think of departing from

this about two months hence for the Barbadoes, & will if I find my
complaint any thing worse immediately return here again, but wou’d
be glad to know your advice, whether you thought my going there would
be of any hindrance to the cure being accomplished, as whatever my
advantage might me by going there, if it wou’d be of any hurt to me
I wou’d not on any account, go, so that I wou’d be very thankfull to
have your sentiments on this head, as health is such a precious thing
that a Person wou’d willingly give up every advantage of life to obtain
it, & I look upon my disorder to be one of the most disagreeable ones
as while it lasts I will be very unhappy, but I fancy a Person cou’d
not survive long with that disorder, as I imagin every attack must
help to weaken ones nerves. – Annexed you have the Copy of a receipt
I got some time ago from a Lady who strongly recommended me to try
it, as she says it has cured many People that were troubled with the
like disorders, but I wou’d not venture to try any quack medicines
without first letting you know, you have also another receipt from
another lady which has also cured some People. – I don’t recollect
of any thing else necessary to acquaint you of. – I am with the
greatest respect ----

Dear Sir
Your obliged humble Servant

Give them two or three boils in the liquor, when cold bottle it, and
give the Patient a wine glass of it every morning two hours before
