Mr Gammel. Greenock


Temperance in eating & drinking Exercise &
fresh air. Avoid cold & for two or three weeks
take the medicine advised below which I hope will keep
him open but in fact, he must take a larger dose or
take in its place Cr. tart. Elect. or Ol. ricin.


His pulse is full but this may be owing to his
being here. If upon being settled at home it continue
so, a moderate bleeding may be proper.

Take one drachm Gum guiaicum, three drachms of refined white sugar; carefully grind into a fine powder then gradually add to this mixture six drachms of thick mucilage of Gum Arabic; then carefully pour in an ounce of Antinomial Wine, two ounces of peppermint water and four ounces of rose water. Mix. Label: Aperient Solution. A tablespoonful every night at bedtime; shaking the Phial & c.
