Reply headed 'Miss Maitland'. Advice and cephalic prescription for a 'Young Lady' who seems to have a history of mental illness, falling into 'Outrages'. She may be restrained gently, and allowed out of doors 'wherever there is adjoining to the house a Garden or field that will not expose her to the Public Eye, or allowing her easily to escape from her keepers'. There is no indication where she lives, or to which Maitland family she belongs; however, there are indications that Cullen has been consulted about her previously, so it may be worth re-examining anonymised cases. 1 August 1788
