He has started having convulsive fits and relates that his friends tell him they are 'less than before, but they happen as often as before'. His home is in Barbados, and he asks for Cullen's advice 'as I wou'd fain hope to be able to goe out to the West Indies in three or four Months'.	5 July 1775

He should continue to take the pills, although only if they continue to be effective; he should avoid cold bathing if the 'eruption' is severe, but should embrace it otherwise as 'one of the best means of strengthening your nerves'.	8? [DOC ID:1157]	Letter from John Seed in Belfast concerning his own case. He gives more detail on 'the state of the eruptions I am troubled with' (mainly on the hands, also on legs), nausea and vomiting, and fits. He mentions also taking advice from Dr Kenley on bathing. He says that he had been in good health in Barbados, where he hopes to return for business. He has given up chewing and smoking tobacco.	23 July 1775

[DOC ID:1171]	Letter from John Seed in Belfast, reporting on his progress with the seton in his neck, bouts of vomiting and fits, and seeking advice on his plan to return to the Barbadoes in 2 months' time. He includes 'a receipt I got some time ago from a Lady who strongly recommended me to try it [...] but I wou'd not venture to try any quack medicine without first letting you know. You have also another receipt from another lady which has also cured some People'. He encloses a sample of powder from the first lady, for Cullen to identify. Both recipes are for treating convulsive fits.	6 October 1775
