Reply to Mr Coulthard a Carlisle surgeon, regarding a man who asked Cullen for medical advice for him and his wife but declined to give his name, asking Cullen instead to direct his advice to the surgeon. Cullen states that although their ailments were both venereal three years ago, 'there seems to have been a great deal of Mercury employed' and the disease is gone, meaning their current ailments are not venereal in nature. 26 June 1782
