Reply, 'For Mr Reid'. Cullen believes Mr Reid's disease to be 'chiefly in his head and that from this his stomach is affected'. He recommends a seton in the nape of the neck, some exercise, and both wine and 'Rum Toddy', adding that 'if he takes half a pint to a pint of Port or a quarter of a pint of good old Jamaica Rum at dinner every day he will be the better for it'.30 April 1782
