Letter from John Heysham concerning the case of Captain Holmes, who visited Cullen with Dr Waite 'about two years ago'. He is now 'in a very dangerous situation, that I am afraid little can be expected from the power of medicine'. The destination of this letter is marked as Edinburgh, rather than Penrith. Heysham sent the letter via Penrith since that speeded up the process of sending the letter to Edinburgh (he implies that it saved a stage on the postal route).5 September 1785
